Tailwind on the go!

Tailwind stick packs are an ideal way to test Tailwind and perfect for fuelling on the go. Just tear and pour into a water bottle for 200 calories of Tailwind goodness, no mess, no fuss. The 10 pack assorted is a great way to try a mix of Tailwind flavours, or stock up in the flavours you like. The standard 10 packs comprises 2 sticks of Mandarin Orange,Lemon, Naked, Berry & Raspberry Buzz. Usage

Tailwind was originally sold in tubs with a serving scoop that measured 100 calories and this was nominated as 1 serving. In practice most users would put 2 scoops in a drinks bottle so the 2 serving stickpack was developed for easier refuelling on the move.

Each 2 serving stick pack contains 200 calories. Mix contents with 20-24oz (500-700ml)of cool, clean water. Give it a shake or two, and go! Sip regularly for steady energy, electrolytes, and hydration. For longer efforts, try our medium (30 serving) and large (50 serving) sizes.

Each serving is 100 calories.

For endurance workouts, mix contents of stickpack with 24 oz (700ml) of water per hour. Adjust to your personal calorie needs during training, using hunger as a guide. When it’s dialed in, you’ll feel satisfied and energetic, not hungry or full.

On hot days, keep the same calories per hour, but increase water. To use in combo with other foods, reduce Tailwind intake by the calories you’re consuming elsewhere to avoid overloading the gut. For shorter workouts (<2hr), you can use less Tailwind to taste.

At first I was sceptical about Tailwinds claims, but during two recent events it worked really well. I've recently participated in two sportives using Tailwind. With regards to fueling me through the rides, it's all I needed. I used the caffeinated ones, but did not get the 'jitters' with them and didn't feel the need to eat. No nasty stomach pains either. I've got the 'Dartmoor Classic' coming up in a week, which is 68 miles with 6500ft of climbing. I will only be using Tailwind for this. With Tailwind there's no need to carry excess weight etc. Nice touch with the personal emails and note included in the parcel. Would definitely recommend Tailwind Nutrition.

I've been using Tailwind this year preparing for some ultra trails this summer. I was looking for something which could provide the fueling needed without the dreaded gut bombs, and I am not a great fan of the gels. Tailwinds is fantastic, just need to keep drinking along the way and have a protein bar or something when the stomach feels empty.
The selection of flavours is really good, but I think my preference is berry.
My order with Tailwind UK was processed and delivered extremely quickly. I will certainly be buying my future.
I cannot rate this highly enough. Thanks for getting the order out to me so quickly.

Decided to give the sample pack a try as wasn't sure which flavour I'd like. Tried the raspberry on a 10 mile run last week and it certainly worked and couldn't eat afterwards as full up! Protein shake was all I could manage. Really great service and product. Defo recommend these guys and this drink. You won't need anything else and less to carry! Go for it, what you waiting for?!

It's early days yet but so far I'm enjoying using Tailwind. Berry, lemon and orange tried so far and all are very nice. I'd definitely recommend to people who are struggling with drinks and/or gels. Service was quick with a lovely personalised note in the box. Try it!

Read about tailwind on the Centurion race reports the runners gave it good reviews, so I thought I would try some. Only done a few 10/15 mile runs using tailwind so still early days, but it certainly didn't cause me any problems. Time will tell if it benefits me. I will write another review after more serious testing, but feel positive. The order was delivered within 48 hours with a hand written note explaining how best to use tailwind. Nice touch.

Most of my long training runs are on trails (usually 14-31 miles) and for as long as I can remember have been fuelled by clif bars and bagels. After hearing about tailwind on an ultra running podcast, I decided to give it a shot. It's cheaper than buying bars and shot blocks and more convenient to carry. To play it safe I started out with a 14 miler with nothing more than 2 tailwind sachets. I cannot begin to describe the difference in energy I felt. I ended up using a sachet and a half and setting a 6 minute personal best! I honestly felt like I was flying! Thank you tailwind, you will be coming with me on all of my future train runs and competitions.

I wanted to try trailwind after a friend advised it for my ultras. Not only was I presently surprised at the taste but also the fact I didn't experience any stomach issues in the test runs leading up to my ultra. fingers crossed for this weekend!!!

Tried Tailwind for the first time on an 18 mile run on muddy trails. I would normally take some energy bars, sweets, bananas etc. as I get really hungry on long runs. I had one full sachet in a 500ml soft flask, and another in my bag. I sipped little and often and felt energised for the full run. I'm amazed that I made it all the way around without eating anything! I'm converted!

I've used Tailwind for my last 4 half marathons and it is amazing! I don't get on with gels, but Tailwind is tasty, not sickly sweet and doesn't upset my stomach. I find just one sachet is enough to see me through a half marathon. I highly recommend Tailwind and wouldn't do a long run without it now

Recently have just run a couple of marathons using a brand of gels and other hydration fluid - both of which sat heavily on my stomach and caused me to have a very desperate pit-stop resulting in loss of time.
Used tailwind on a 10 miler the other day - orange flavour which I was a bit dubious about as orange not my favourite of flavours - but I was pleasantly surprised the drink went down very easily had a lovely taste and seemed quite light on my stomach compared to other drinks - hopefully using this in my next marathon will help get the time I'm chasing

Delivery was quick and ordering was simple no hassle no fuss

After bonking on a long run using gels, some friends and twitter users advised me to get on the Tailwind bandwagon - I am so glad i did, my first test was a 26.2 mile run, I mixed the tailwind as per the instructions and sipped regularly throughout my laps. No bad guts, and no gloopy mess - Its light and easily manageable. I shall be using Tailwind during Race to the Stones a 100km non stop event. Excellent product, only bettered by the service and personalised note with my delivery. I will absolutely be recommending Tailwind to all of my friends

I'm sure the product is worthy of that 5th star but having only used it once so far I need a bit more time!
Used it in a 4 hour mountain bike ride and really liked it, not sticky and mixed super fast. Tried the berry pack and the mandarin pack,both really nice. Felt good and strong throughout and lots of energy in the bank.

I've used tailwind now for my last two events (half marathon and trail marathon) and lots of training sessions. I get the variety packs and haven't found a flavour I don't like. Plus the variety packs give me a good blend of caffeine and caffeine free sticks which I can then alternate when I need a boost or before I head out. I use two soft flasks for long runs with a stick per 500ml. This works well as I get energy, hydration and its keeps my sodium levels up avoiding cramps. It's not sticky, mixes easily and sits well on my stomach. Plus it's natural which is important to me. The service is fantastic, you get a hand written note with tips or weather forecasts for your next event, which is a very nice touch.

When i was feeling really rough and couldn't stomach anything at all, tailwind is the only thing that kept me going on the ride 100 last year. Since then it is always with me on the bike to see me pushing through those last hard miles. Tastes great, not sickly sweet like some other brands. Best of all it works.

I've been training for my first Olympic triathlon and been working with gels, bars, solid food and all of it gives you that kick as the energy hits your system. Tailwind doesn't do that, you just never feel tired. It's a really strange experience first time out, it was a hard training run that I first used it and was able to push harder for longer. My legs started to tire near the end so I went from a sip every 10mins or so to a sip every 5mins or so and didn't actually realise until I stopped that not only had my legs stopped aching but I'd then run faster. On top of that I didn't feel like I needed to stop which was an awesome feeling. As the blurb says I've had no problems with my stomach which gels sometimes played havoc with. The personal note in the pack instantly impressed me. The only question I have left to answer is what flavours I'm ordering next, there's no if there just what and when

I bought a selection box to try Tailwind for the first time and I am so so pleased that I did - it's absolutely brilliant - I am hyper sensitive to sugar and caffeine so I find that other gels make me peak and trough and generally make me feel pretty ill - but this is not the case with Tailwind - it totally does what it says on the tin (or in this case packet) thank you for a great product!

last weeks open water swim of 2.5 hrs left me drained. The last hour was much slower than the first section. Tried tailwind for the first time this week and improved time by 13% and didn't feel drained afterwards. Maintained the same pace throughout the swim. So it appears to work. Will continue to try out the flavours and check it wasn't a fluke- but very impressed so far. Good service too

I'm a little weary of gels/supplements as have had some bad experience with some.As with many things you've got to try a few to find what's right for you. If I had this first I wouldn't of had to keep trying! I went ultra careful and chose the caffeine free ones. Don't expect a massive glucose type hit as it's alot more subtle,and not at all unpleasant. I haven't used them yet on a run of over 15 miles yet but sipping this little and often on a hot 15 miler I felt hydrated and fueled and without the need to eat half the fridge when I got home! I would always have this now for anything over 10 miles and would certainly recommend it.

Used this for the first time at the Liverpool Rock and Roll half marathon. My energy levels stayed up, I didn't feel any hunger pangs, I didn't need to use any other form of energy top up and it tastes amazing. Oh and I got a PB too by 4 minutes! I've used Tailwind a couple of times now, during a weekend long run and the last time during a 36 mile ultra this past weekend. This is a nice product. It has a light clean taste, rinses easily out of a water bottle or bladder, and hasn't caused me any undue stomach problems. I've only tried a couple of flavours so far but have no reason to believe the other flavours won't be as good. Delivery took just a couple of days to arrive too. Recommended.

First Sprint Tri at 65

I just did my first Sprint Tri at 65 and had been told it was essential I used gels and sports drinks or I'd never finish.
I've eaten clean food veg/vegan for almost 40 years and the idea of using chemical supplements at a time that my body needed easily accessible good nutrition didn't sit well.
I found Tailwinds online and was immediately struck by the simplicity of the ingredients and the rationale behind the product. The reviews were excellent and they did not let me down.
Despite being massively under trained due to a recent accident I finished the race without any loss of energy or stomach discomfort. I especially loved the clean taste (the unflavoured and the lemon). I'm a convert, looking for my next race and already spreading the word about Tailwinds.

Very pleased with these 2 serving stickpacks. I first used tailwind at a half-marathon. It was the first energy/electrolyte drink i actually enjoyed! Got the mulitpack of 2 servings to try and find out which one I liked the most. Like them all so far! Used them on several 20+ mile training runs. Just great. Highly recommended.

Used on the bike leg of a 70.3 Half Ironman.

Due to nutrition logistics I prepared 3 sachets into one 800ml bottle. Flavour was great, despite the stronger concentration! No gut malfunctions despite average HR of 150 for the 2.5 hours on the bike. No stiches or cramps or crashes on the run stage either - a sign of good calorie and electrolyte intake from earlier.

Overall a great tasting product, I havent sampled the other flavours yet but will be ordering more Berry for sure!

I start triathlon last year as a complete novice, I was having stomach problems when running the last leg, consisting of a burning sensation and cramps, I was using a different product. I was advised by a friend of mine to try Tailwind which I used within my training sessions to make sure it was suitable for me. I raced for the first time on Sunday and knocked off 15 minutes off my previous time, I only used Tailwind and since have not had any gut problems. With the right training and nutrition you can be the best you can be.

I used the Tailwind stickpacks to fuel me during Southampton Marathon and it helped me knock 4 mins of my previous best Highly recomend, had 750ml of water and a stickpack sipped the hour before the start, and a stickpack and water roughly every hour during the race which seemed to work well

Only just started using Tailwind but it really seems to be good stuff. 2 hour ride yesterday, one sachet dropped in my water bottle and I felt no drop in energy on my ride and I didn't feel starving through the remains of the day. Going to be riding today and not taking any snacks with me!

I used Tailwind in my first ultra last weekend, the NDW50. I took one bottle each of the raspberry caffeine and orange flavours and topped up en route. I've felt sick in the past when using gels and other sports drinks so it's been great to find a product that doesn't have any adverse effects. Eating on the run is a skill that I'm still getting to grips with but with Tailwind I felt safe that I was taking in enough calories to get me through., and after a long day I finished still feeling strong. Sodium: Maintains Fluid Balance

Sodium is needed in the body for a number of reasons, the most important for endurance athletes is its role in the maintenance of extracellular fluid volume which influences the hydration of an athlete.

It is also important for the uptake of nutrients such hexose (carbohydrate) and amino acids (protein).

During extended periods of exercise it is important that sodium levels are replenished. As the bodies sodium concentration falls ECF (extracellular fluid) falls which can have detrimental effects to the bodies cells. Physiologically this will present as dizziness and faintness.

 

Sodium Citrate: Stops Cramps

Sodium citrate is added to the Tailwind Nutrition products to act as a pH regulator. When the muscles are working for extended periods of time, muscle pH will decrease and cramps take effect. The role of sodium citrate is to delay the effects of this lowering pH and prevent the build up of lactic acid in the athletes muscles to help reduce cramps and allow them to run, cycle or row for longer.

 

Potassium: Stops Muscle Weakness

Potassium is essential for the acid-base regulation and to maintain the electrophysiology of nerves and muscles. Sodium: Maintains Fluid Balance

Sodium is needed in the body for a number of reasons, the most important for endurance athletes is its role in the maintenance of extracellular fluid volume which influences the hydration of an athlete.

It is also important for the uptake of nutrients such hexose (carbohydrate) and amino acids (protein).

During extended periods of exercise it is important that sodium levels are replenished. As the bodies sodium concentration falls ECF (extracellular fluid) falls which can have detrimental effects to the bodies cells. Physiologically this will present as dizziness and faintness.

 

Sodium Citrate: Stops Cramps

Sodium citrate is added to the Tailwind Nutrition products to act as a pH regulator. When the muscles are working for extended periods of time, muscle pH will decrease and cramps take effect. The role of sodium citrate is to delay the effects of this lowering pH and prevent the build up of lactic acid in the athletes muscles to help reduce cramps and allow them to run, cycle or row for longer.

At first I was sceptical about Tailwinds claims, but during two recent events it worked really well. I've recently participated in two sportives using Tailwind. With regards to fueling me through the rides, it's all I needed. I used the caffeinated ones, but did not get the 'jitters' with them and didn't feel the need to eat. No nasty stomach pains either. I've got the 'Dartmoor Classic' coming up in a week, which is 68 miles with 6500ft of climbing. I will only be using Tailwind for this. With Tailwind there's no need to carry excess weight etc. Nice touch with the personal emails and note included in the parcel. Would definitely recommend Tailwind Nutrition.

I've been using Tailwind this year preparing for some ultra trails this summer. I was looking for something which could provide the fueling needed without the dreaded gut bombs, and I am not a great fan of the gels. Tailwinds is fantastic, just need to keep drinking along the way and have a protein bar or something when the stomach feels empty.
The selection of flavours is really good, but I think my preference is berry.
My order with Tailwind UK was processed and delivered extremely quickly. I will certainly be buying my future.

Decided to give the sample pack a try as wasn't sure which flavour I'd like. Tried the raspberry on a 10 mile run last week and it certainly worked and couldn't eat afterwards as full up! Protein shake was all I could manage. Really great service and product. Defo recommend these guys and this drink. You won't need anything else and less to carry! Go for it, what you waiting for?!

Read about tailwind on the Centurion race reports the runners gave it good reviews, so I thought I would try some. Only done a few 10/15 mile runs using tailwind so still early days, but it certainly didn't cause me any problems. Time will tell if it benefits me. I will write another review after more serious testing, but feel positive. The order was delivered within 48 hours with a hand written note explaining how best to use tailwind. Nice touch.

Most of my long training runs are on trails (usually 14-31 miles) and for as long as I can remember have been fuelled by clif bars and bagels. After hearing about tailwind on an ultra running podcast, I decided to give it a shot. It's cheaper than buying bars and shot blocks and more convenient to carry. To play it safe I started out with a 14 miler with nothing more than 2 tailwind sachets. I cannot begin to describe the difference in energy I felt. I ended up using a sachet and a half and setting a 6 minute personal best! I honestly felt like I was flying! Thank you tailwind, you will be coming with me on all of my future train runs and competitions.

Tried Tailwind for the first time on an 18 mile run on muddy trails. I would normally take some energy bars, sweets, bananas etc. as I get really hungry on long runs. I had one full sachet in a 500ml soft flask, and another in my bag. I sipped little and often and felt energised for the full run. I'm amazed that I made it all the way around without eating anything! I'm converted!

I've used Tailwind for my last 4 half marathons and it is amazing! I don't get on with gels, but Tailwind is tasty, not sickly sweet and doesn't upset my stomach. I find just one sachet is enough to see me through a half marathon. I highly recommend Tailwind and wouldn't do a long run without it now

Recently have just run a couple of marathons using a brand of gels and other hydration fluid - both of which sat heavily on my stomach and caused me to have a very desperate pit-stop resulting in loss of time.
Used tailwind on a 10 miler the other day - orange flavour which I was a bit dubious about as orange not my favourite of flavours - but I was pleasantly surprised the drink went down very easily had a lovely taste and seemed quite light on my stomach compared to other drinks - hopefully using this in my next marathon will help get the time I'm chasing

Delivery was quick and ordering was simple no hassle no fuss

After bonking on a long run using gels, some friends and twitter users advised me to get on the Tailwind bandwagon - I am so glad i did, my first test was a 26.2 mile run, I mixed the tailwind as per the instructions and sipped regularly throughout my laps. No bad guts, and no gloopy mess - Its light and easily manageable. I shall be using Tailwind during Race to the Stones a 100km non stop event. Excellent product, only bettered by the service and personalised note with my delivery. I will absolutely be recommending Tailwind to all of my friends

Used it in a 4 hour mountain bike ride and really liked it, not sticky and mixed super fast. Tried the berry pack and the mandarin pack,both really nice. Felt good and strong throughout and lots of energy in the bank.

I've used tailwind now for my last two events (half marathon and trail marathon) and lots of training sessions. I get the variety packs and haven't found a flavour I don't like. Plus the variety packs give me a good blend of caffeine and caffeine free sticks which I can then alternate when I need a boost or before I head out. I use two soft flasks for long runs with a stick per 500ml. This works well as I get energy, hydration and its keeps my sodium levels up avoiding cramps. It's not sticky, mixes easily and sits well on my stomach. Plus it's natural which is important to me. The service is fantastic, you get a hand written note with tips or weather forecasts for your next event, which is a very nice touch.

When i was feeling really rough and couldn't stomach anything at all, tailwind is the only thing that kept me going on the ride 100 last year. Since then it is always with me on the bike to see me pushing through those last hard miles. Tastes great, not sickly sweet like some other brands. Best of all it works.

I've been training for my first Olympic triathlon and been working with gels, bars, solid food and all of it gives you that kick as the energy hits your system. Tailwind doesn't do that, you just never feel tired. It's a really strange experience first time out, it was a hard training run that I first used it and was able to push harder for longer. My legs started to tire near the end so I went from a sip every 10mins or so to a sip every 5mins or so and didn't actually realise until I stopped that not only had my legs stopped aching but I'd then run faster. On top of that I didn't feel like I needed to stop which was an awesome feeling. As the blurb says I've had no problems with my stomach which gels sometimes played havoc with. The personal note in the pack instantly impressed me. The only question I have left to answer is what flavours I'm ordering next, there's no if there just what and when

I bought a selection box to try Tailwind for the first time and I am so so pleased that I did - it's absolutely brilliant - I am hyper sensitive to sugar and caffeine so I find that other gels make me peak and trough and generally make me feel pretty ill - but this is not the case with Tailwind - it totally does what it says on the tin (or in this case packet) thank you for a great product!

last weeks open water swim of 2.5 hrs left me drained. The last hour was much slower than the first section. Tried tailwind for the first time this week and improved time by 13% and didn't feel drained afterwards. Maintained the same pace throughout the swim. So it appears to work. Will continue to try out the flavours and check it wasn't a fluke- but very impressed so far. Good service too

I'm a little weary of gels/supplements as have had some bad experience with some.As with many things you've got to try a few to find what's right for you. If I had this first I wouldn't of had to keep trying! I went ultra careful and chose the caffeine free ones. Don't expect a massive glucose type hit as it's alot more subtle,and not at all unpleasant. I haven't used them yet on a run of over 15 miles yet but sipping this little and often on a hot 15 miler I felt hydrated and fueled and without the need to eat half the fridge when I got home! I would always have this now for anything over 10 miles and would certainly recommend it.

I've used Tailwind a couple of times now, during a weekend long run and the last time during a 36 mile ultra this past weekend. This is a nice product. It has a light clean taste, rinses easily out of a water bottle or bladder, and hasn't caused me any undue stomach problems. I've only tried a couple of flavours so far but have no reason to believe the other flavours won't be as good. Delivery took just a couple of days to arrive too. Recommended.

I just did my first Sprint Tri at 65 and had been told it was essential I used gels and sports drinks or I'd never finish.
I've eaten clean food veg/vegan for almost 40 years and the idea of using chemical supplements at a time that my body needed easily accessible good nutrition didn't sit well.
I found Tailwinds online and was immediately struck by the simplicity of the ingredients and the rationale behind the product. The reviews were excellent and they did not let me down.
Despite being massively under trained due to a recent accident I finished the race without any loss of energy or stomach discomfort. I especially loved the clean taste (the unflavoured and the lemon). I'm a convert, looking for my next race and already spreading the word about Tailwinds.

Used on the bike leg of a 70.3 Half Ironman.

Due to nutrition logistics I prepared 3 sachets into one 800ml bottle. Flavour was great, despite the stronger concentration! No gut malfunctions despite average HR of 150 for the 2.5 hours on the bike. No stiches or cramps or crashes on the run stage either - a sign of good calorie and electrolyte intake from earlier.

Overall a great tasting product, I havent sampled the other flavours yet but will be ordering more Berry for sure!

I start triathlon last year as a complete novice, I was having stomach problems when running the last leg, consisting of a burning sensation and cramps, I was using a different product. I was advised by a friend of mine to try Tailwind which I used within my training sessions to make sure it was suitable for me. I raced for the first time on Sunday and knocked off 15 minutes off my previous time, I only used Tailwind and since have not had any gut problems. With the right training and nutrition you can be the best you can be.

I used Tailwind in my first ultra last weekend, the NDW50. I took one bottle each of the raspberry caffeine and orange flavours and topped up en route. I've felt sick in the past when using gels and other sports drinks so it's been great to find a product that doesn't have any adverse effects. Eating on the run is a skill that I'm still getting to grips with but with Tailwind I felt safe that I was taking in enough calories to get me through., and after a long day I finished still feeling strong. Thank you!
